Maybe you are thinking that washing your hair is something very simple and there is not a lot that you can mess up, but there is. Here are four of the common myths everyone believes in, but they are actually wrong statements!
Myth #1: The more shampoo you apply, the cleaner your hair will be.
Actually, you only need a hazelnut size quantity for a well-cleaned hair. You do not need to fill your palm with product. This is especially good news for those of you who have chosen a high-quality expensive product and don’t want to buy a new one every two months. If you use shampoo twice during your time under the shower, this small quantity will be absolutely enough.
Myth #2: More shampoo creates more foam.
If you apply less shampoo, you just need to rub it carefully and for a little longer, about a minute or two. Massaging your scalp is also very helpful for the health and growth of your hair. Besides, if you are a fan of sulfate-free shampoos, you will notice that their foam is less than products that contain sulfates. Sulfates are not good for your hair, so the quality of foam that your shampoo creates is not a sign that it is a good quality product.
Myth #3: Conditioner should be rubbed in the roots too.
Conditioner is the follow-up product after shampoo. It is not a good idea to rub into your roots. Its main purpose is to be put on the lengths and ends of your hair to make it shinier, easier to comb through and prevent it from drying. Leave your conditioner for 2-3 minutes for maximum effect.
Myth #4: You need to change your shampoo since your hair gets used to it.
This myth is a very popular one and it might come as a surprise, but shampoos do not need to be changed. If you find a shampoo that is good for your hair type, stick to it for as long as you want. Your hair won’t build a tolerance to it and its effect won’t fade away. If you see a change in it, it’s probably cause by something else: other products, your diet, your lifestyle or hormonal changes.
