- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 tablespoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cans cherry pie filling
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 tablespoon almond extract
How to make it:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together the flour, baking powder and the salt, set them aside. Use a mixer to combine butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Mix in the eggs one by one, then add the the vanilla and almond extracts. Set the mixer on low speed and slowly add the dry ingredients and mix them together. Separate from the mixture 1 1/2 cups and set aside, then spread the rest of it evenly into baking dish. Top with cherry pie filling. Dot on small spoonfuls of the remaining batter evenly over the top. Bake for about 30-40 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
For the glaze:
Mix together all glaze ingredients adding enough half and half to reack desired consistency. Use resealable bag to drizzle the glaze over the cooled cherry pie. Allow glaze to chill and cut into squares.
