It is always great when we can do our own cosmetic products with what we already own in our kitchen or bathroom. It is a cheaper and more natural method, and our own work does not contain the harmful ingredients that can be found in some drugstore or even luxurious cosmetics.
Here are our ideas of DIY hair products, made mainly of household items:
Salt Spray for Texture
Creating texture with salt sprays has become a beauty hype all over the world. Many brands have offered their products, but actually you can do it on your own, at home. Just take an empty spray bottle and put some warm water and 1 tablespoon of sea salt in it. You can also add a teaspoon of hair gel for the hairstyle to be fixated more or 1 tablespoon of conditioner/ coconut oil to moisturize your hair. Either way you will have saved lots of money!
Olive Oil and Honey Mask for Dry Hair
Both of these are found maybe in every household. Olive oil and honey can do miracles for your skin, but also for your hair. If you suffer from dry hair, you can simply mix 4 tablespoons of honey with 6 tablespoons of olive oil and leave it for 15 to 30 minutes on your hair. You may want to heat up the mixture a little, so that the honey can melt, and remember to put a shower cap over your hair afterwards in order for the mask to be easily absorbed by the hair. Afterwards, wash it out with shampoo thoroughly.
If you have run out of dry shampoo or if you want to try a natural version of the product, here is how you can do it. Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, 2 tablespoons of cocoa (for brunettes) or baby powder (for blondes), 1 tablespoon of baking soda and you may add a drop of an essential oil for more moisture (but don’t overdo it, because it can make your hair greasy). Apply it gently to your hairline first and then spread the powder over the rest of your scalp. After a few seconds brush the shampoo out and style as usual. Again, you can see how your kitchen supply saves the day!
