So summer is here and again, but you have nothing to wear. No, we don`t believe you. We are sure you`ve got at least one white dress, which you consider too plain to wear!
So take it out and let us show you how to make a lovely ombre sundress, using dye.
You will need:
- A white lace dress
- Rit Liquid Fabric Dye – teal, blue and purple
- foam brushes
- painter’s tape
- latex gloves
- bin or bucket for dye
- drop cloth
DIY Ombre Sundress – step by step guide
First cover the surface, you`ll be working on, with a drop cloth, to prevent the mess. Then put the cardboard into the dress, so that the dye won`t leak on the back.
Start painting the front part, using the foam brush. It is best to start from the waist and up (1 part dye and 2 parts water are used in this example).
Make sure you paint the edges, because this will be your guide, when you turn the dress on the other side. Paint everything – including the straps. Then flip and repeat on the back.
Colour leaks on the skirt are inevitable, that’s why it is recommended to mix 1 part green dye with 6 parts of water and dip the skirt part of the dress into it. This way you`ll make the colour even and it will look good.
Put in the washer and let it dry.
This is the perfect sundress for this summer, right?
