Spice up any room with a flower power set of drawers!
We had this set of drawers lying around (which yes, looks very sad and boring!)
So we decided to transform it in to something awesome!
Because it is made from solid wood, it was the perfect candidate for a makeover.
For this project you’ll need:
A wood dresser, a quarter of paint and 1 ½ yards of fabric
Prep for paint
Using sanding paper – remove the existing finish
Wipe it down with a damp rag to make sure the whole surface is clean and smooth
Place the dresser on a tarp and if necessary, raise it up on to wooden blocks to lift it off the floor
Apply an even coat of paint and let it dry. Give it a second coat and let it dry.
Cut out the flowers or pattern from the fabric
Make sure to get all the details in the pattern
Use a craft paintbrush to spread the decoupage glue on to the back of the fabric then place on to the dresser
Apply a coat of decoupage glue over the front of the fabric
Make sure to completely cover the edges of the fabric. Let the glue dry
Create your look
Continue to work your way up and around the dresser until you have a fun pattern with a lot of color!
When the fabric is dry and the glue is invisible, spray the dresser with 2 coats of shellac or polyurethane.
