So you know that whole Big Brother thing George Orwell was banging on about in 1984?
Well it seems that Facebook have got that going on.
Oh Sandy and Kirsten Cohen from The O.C; the university sweethearts who managed to defy all marriage conventions by actually staying together.
The power couple we measure our relationships by; the pinnacle of the perfect marriage. Ok, they’re fictional, but according to Facebook, their meet-cute at college is a sure-fire example of finding a life partner.
So if you’re wondering whether the bloke you’re with from school or University is gonna end up a keeper, Facebook has the stats for you.
Conducting research with personal data, the team investigated whether couples in long-term-relationships had met each other at school or University – because, y’know, Facebook essentially knows everything about us.
And as you might expect, the results showed that relationships often sprung from campuses and classroom love.
Here’s the scientific nitty-gritty:
15% of individuals attended the same high school as their spouse – but this is less likely for high schools in densely populated areas.
About 28% of married college-graduates attended the same college.
12 of the top 25 colleges for women also make it into the top 25 for men.
FYI – these results are only taken from American data, so if you’re already done with uni and didn’t meet a ‘Forever Person’ (if that’s what you’re into), don’t fret.
