For those times when ‘liking’ something just won’t do…
(When someone posts about someone dying is the example that immediately comes to our mind.)
Well, it seems Facebook has heard our frustrations and it could even be getting a re-vamp – thought, at the moment, an exact timeline for this potential change is not yet available.
Yep, they are toying with the idea of introducing a ‘sympathize’ button; a suggestion that was born out of Facebook’s recent Hackathon, which is an event where staffers brainstorm new ideas for the site.
The button would replace the ‘like’ button when someone selected a negative emotion from a pre-set list of emotions.
The only issue is that for these specific ‘negative’ posts is that the ‘like’ button would not be available AT ALL.
So, say for example, your BFF finally broke up with that terrible boyfriend of hers and you *wanted* to ‘like’ the post – you couldn’t.
Also, it could encourage people to post statuses that may be better suited for private message or email between friends.
Here are a few more they should consider adding:
Having a great time chillin’ with dinner in your slippers with your ‘boyfriend’ are you? Outraged that a queue in the supermarket is taking a long time to move? NOBODY CARES.
Did someone cross the line and tread into your heart and throw it all around and they know who they are because you’re not gonna name names? GET A GRIP.
