Bold lips are a big trend for spring, but if you saw the FDA’s recent research (which found that 397 of 400 tested lipsticks contained lead), then you may have been scared into leaving yours bare
However, the FDA’s report also said that there’s no cause for fear, especially considering how little lipstick is actually ingested by wearers
Still, others are skeptical!
“There are no safe lead levels for children—who often play with their mother’s lipstick—and pregnant women are particularly vulnerable, as they pass lead exposure on to their babies,” says Sean Palfrey, M.D., a clinical professor of pediatrics and public health at Boston University School of Medicine.
