You need to determine what`s your skin tone firts. Just put on a white t-shirt and look at the mirror in natural light. Remember that your skin tone is not your skin color, the tone is the shade which is just below the skin color. Basically it could be either warm or cool.
Then decide which is the right skin color – fair, medium, olive or dark. You might not fit into only one skin color, but don`t worry most of the people are in-between.
Time to choose the foundation base – it should batch your skin color exactly. Test the color onto the jawbone, as this will give you the best impression of its shades. Generally speaking, if you have a cool skin tone- get a foundation with pink of blue undertones. If your are a proud owner of warm skin tone – go for yellow-toned foundation. In case you have a darker skin, make sure your skin does not look ashen.
Then choose a blush, which is suitable for your skin tone and color. In general:
- Dark skin – plum shades for cool tones and orange-bronze tones for warm tones.
- Olive skin – brown and copper brush
- Medium skin tones – apricot, coral or peach
- Fair skin – pink and rose, those who have a warm tone – beige or tawny.
As far as the eyeshadows are concerned, not all of us could end up their color experiments successfully, so be careful, when choosing your eyeshadows. Warm tones look great with golden hue shadows, such as greens, browns, gold or pink. However, cool skin tones look good with blue, gray, pink or plum. In any case, it is very good to combine the shades with the eye color.
And the finishing element – lipstick . Test it on a white sheet of paper to see its actual color. Warm reds and browns are best for people with warm skin tones. Cool, dark skin women should go for purple, rose or pink and the olive skinned for brown, beige and red.
