Bad breath, also called halitosis, can be caused by a dry mouth. Due to a lack of sufficient saliva, it is referred to by medical professionals as xerostomia. When you suffer from this condition, an anaerobic environment is created in your mouth. This provides the perfect atmosphere for bacteria and bad breath to flourish
Whether it is a fleeting case of morning breath or halitosis, everybody has nasty breath at some point. However, it can be really embarrassing when you talk to people. Not to worry! There are many ways to prevent nasty breath
One problem that can cause bad breath is having a dry mouth. Water is odor-free and helps to flush out bacteria. This is why it is important to consume at least 1.5 liters of water daily
Eat sugar-free hard candies to stimulate your mouth to produce saliva. Even better – chew sugar-free gums to prevent from bacteria and keep your breath fresh
Avoid eating strong-smelling foods, such as garlic, onions or strong spices. You can eat fruits and vegetables like apples, celery, carrots and oranges to get rid of bad breath
And most importantly – clean your teeth properly and brush them at least twice a day. Flossing is another huge component to good mouth health, which includes preventing bad breath.
