Who’s worn the kookiest outfits to the Grammys?
From Jennifer Lopez in a revealing Versace gown to Pink in a glittering bodysuit, take a trip down fashion memory lane:
Toni Braxton graced the Grammy Awards in 2001 wearing a barely-there Richard Tyler dress and a lot of double-stick tape. “I decided that before I got married and had babies, I’d wear this,”
Perhaps one of the most memorable dresses worn to the Grammys was Jennifer Lopez’s Versace number in 2000.
The dress dominated fashion and entertainment news for weeks afterward, and “South Park” co-creator Trey Parker even wore a replica of the dress to the Academy Awards in 2011.
In 2004, comedian Margaret Cho wore a Derek of Narcisse dress that some consider one of the most revealing Grammy dresses of all time.
It was also deemed to be the worst dress at that year’s award show by E! Entertainment Tonight, Joan Rivers and other fashion critics.
Always one to err on the side of revealing, rapper Lil’ Kim wore a red biker outfit to the 2002 award show, where she won for best pop collaboration with vocals alongside Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mýa for the song “Lady Marmalade.”
Nine months pregnant at the time of the 2009 award show, singer M.I.A. wore a sheer black mini dress designed by Henry Holland that featured strategically placed black and white polka dots.
She gave birth to a baby boy days later.
While singing “Glitter in the Air” at the 2010 Grammys, Pink slipped off a white dress to reveal a body suit that left little to the imagination.
To add a bit more excitement, Pink got dunked into a tank of water while being suspended in the air during the performance.
Lady Gaga often leaves people flabbergasted by her red carpet choices, and her look for the 2010 Grammys was no exception.
She topped her silver dress, which had a raised backside, with a hat designed by Philip Treacy that looked like it could do some serious damage.
Singer Annie Lennox channeled Minnie Mouse for her award show outfit in 1995.
“What else is a girl going to wear to the Grammys?” Lennox said of the mini dress, thigh-high boots and mouse ears.
