Yesterday Robbie Williams was honored with a blue plaque in his hometown of Stoke-On-Trent ahead of his 40th birthday next week. (You know – those blue signs that say a famous person lived in a certain house.)
So Robbie must have been chuffed to be at the unveiling ceremony, right?
But he did send his father Pete, who took the guest of honor spot as the Lord Mayor of Stoke-On-Trent unveiled the sign on the street where Robbie grew up, and announced that the Candy singer would be given the freedom of the city.
Robbie did send his dad a message to read out though.
Robbie said: “I’m proud to come from Stoke-On-Trent. I’m extremely honored and grateful that you think it fitting to give me this recognition.
PS: My daughter’s first word was Mummy, her second was duck! She’s a Stokie!”
