Your first pregnancy can be a very daunting and a scary experience.
We breakdown what to expect in your pregnancy and some tips to make life a little easier in this time.
So what can you expect?
The first thing that you have definetly heard of is morning sickness. There is no avoiding this of course and some women experience a worse case than others.
Pregnant women have a hightened sense of smell therefore anything can bring on nausea at anytime of the day such as perfume, food smells etc. The best way to deal with it?
To lessen morning sickness, eat smaller meals frequently throughout the day that is easily digested and drink a lot of fluids (mainly water – try around 3 x litre bottles per day). Ginger Ale is known to help.
You may experience a lot of tenderness and/or swollen breasts which is very normal. Make sure that you are wearing a bra that fits perfectly and gives you enough support.
If you are suffering from having to use the bathroom a lot (especially during the night) be sure to drink less fluids at night. Drinking too much at night will cause a break in sleep due to needing to use the bathroom and lets face it you need all the rest and sleep you can get!
It is very normal for you to crave foods and weird food combinations that are not normally something you would eat. Feel free to feed your cravings but always consume in moderation.
To avoid heartburn again, eat small frequent meals and drink a lot of fluids. Exercise also helps to reduce heartburn.
Needless to say your hormones will be going crazy! Some women suffer from very low moments throughout their pregnancy, share it!
Its very important to talk to your other half, friends or family about how your feeling so get as much support as possible.
